Vladimir S’iedin was born on April 14, 1946, in Kramatorsk, Donetsk Oblast. After graduating from high school, he enrolled in a vocational technical school, where he trained as a lathe operator. It was during this time that the young man became fascinated with folk dance and began attending an amateur troupe at the city’s House of Culture. Eventually, this passion grew into his lifelong profession.
From 1964 to 1967, Volodymyr Mykolayovych worked as a ballet dancer in the “Dnistrovye Grono” ensemble of the Vinnytsia Regional Philharmonic. In 1967, he enrolled at the Kamianets-Podilskyi Pedagogical Institute (now the Ivan Ohienko Kamianets-Podilskyi National University). While studying, he continued to dance in the student troupe, headed the institute’s joint trade union committee, and in 1972 became the artistic director of the “Gorlytsia” student dance ensemble.
Thanks to his talent, high level of professionalism, and perseverance, Volodymyr Mykolayovych elevated the pedagogical institute’s amateur troupe to an international level. Thanks to his painstaking work, “Horlytsia” gained recognition far beyond Ukraine’s borders, successfully touring countries around the world. In 1976, under his leadership, “Gorlytsia” became the first amateur troupe from the Khmelnytskyi region to have the honor of representing the region and the country at prestigious international festivals abroad.
